Film Screening | Columbine 2024: 25 Years of Trauma

Please join CAP’s Reel Progress program for an in-person screening of “Columbine 2024: 25 Years of Trauma.” This 36-minute documentary follows the journey of Columbine teacher, Kiki Leyba and his wife Kallie Leyba as they navigate the enduring aftermath of the Columbine tragedy. Delving into their lives over the span of two decades, this film provides a nuanced glimpse into how individuals cope with unfathomable loss and trauma. 

By exploring the individual experiences of Kiki and Kallie, viewers gain a nuanced understanding of how trauma shapes lives over time. The documentary honors the memory of those affected by the Columbine shooting while highlighting the ongoing struggle for healing and recovery. 

"Columbine 2024: 25 Years of Tragedy" serves as a moving reminder of the enduring impact of mass violence on communities and individuals. It underscores the resilience of the human spirit in the face of profound adversity and offers hope for healing and reconciliation in the wake of tragedy. 

The film will be followed by a conversation with Jeff Vespa (Director, Columbine 2024: 25 Years of Trauma), Kiki Leyba (First-Year Teacher at Columbine High School in 1999), and Tom Mauser (Activist & Father of Daniel, a Victim of the Columbine High School Massacre) on the long-lasting impact of gun violence and how we can better advocate for gun violence prevention. 

This event is in-person only. A light dinner will be provided.
